Three days hiking around the largest volcano in europe - the Vogelsberg. In the map you can see the region we visited during our tour...
Day1 We started south from the Hoherodskopf parking place after enjoying the toboggan run there - really worth one, two or three runs ;o) Our first day took us to the Bilstein (666m), across beautiful meadows to our first sleeping place - a little hut at the Herchenhainer Höhe. But because of many 8-legged-beeings we decided to sleep outside... Day2 After an early start we passed by the famous Uhuklippe - without recognizing it... and the Teufelskanzel near Hochwaldhausen. Through a beautiful lime tree avenue we reached the little town Herbstein where we took a little rest and plundered the local store. From there it was just a short walk to our next sleeping place... a little hut at the Schalksbachteiche. Day3 Along the Schalksbachteiche we went towards our next sleeping hut - but because I had a nasty little allergic reaction to my boots we decided to walk straight back to the Hoherodskopf. We only took a short sidetrack to the Bismarkturm on the highest rise of the Vogelsberg - the Taufstein (773m). |
