The Tasman Coastal Trail

That's a 3-5 days walk along Waterfall Bay through to Fortescue Beach out to Cape Hauy and to Cape Pillar.

We stayed at the Y.H.A. in Port Arthur which is now unfortunately closed-down. In the morning we drove down the poor gravel road and started from the visitor centre carpark on Fortescue Bay. Our plan was to walk Cape Hauy, over Mt. Fortescue to Cape Pillar and back to the carpark via the inland track. But due to under food and a disastrous first day walk we cut short and went back to start without going to Cape Pillar.

The walk from Fortescue Bay to the crossroad with the guidpost is a gentle walk uphill and took us 1 1/2 hours.

From the guidpost to Cape Hauy it took us another 2 hours return. It's a lovely walk up-and-down and sometimes on the edges of the cliffs... beautiful views if the weather is good.

Back at the guidpost it is a 2 hours walk uphill to Mt. Fortescue and if you're not loosing your way as we did you could probably reach the campsite within another hour.

From the campsite it's an easy 3 hours walk back to the carpark.
